OXBOW team rider and reigning ASP World Champion, Duane DeSoto, from Oahu, Hawaii, maintained his ranking as number one in the world after winning the SriLankan Airlines Pro over Taylor Jensen in clean 4 to 5 foot surf at Arugam Bay point on Saturday, September 3.

"I'm on top of the world!” said DeSoto. "This is a dream come true, this is what we work so hard for." Desoto had a tough run making into the finals leaving most of the excitement for the last few seconds of competition. "The waves here have been amazing, it's never been flat and we had the best surf in the final, it was perfect," said DeSoto. Coming down to the final seconds of competition, DeSoto was able to catch the winning wave of the day and pull himself into the lead over Jensen, finishing first overall.

"It is so good to surf a wave like this for a ASP World Longboard Event," Desoto said. "I want to thank my beautiful family who support me through everything I do. Sri Lanka and Arugam Bay you are beautiful people and I'm so glad to be here."

This win for the SriLankan Airline Pro puts DeSoto in a prime position to secure the title of 2011 ASP World Longboard Champion. The final contest of the tour will take place in November, in Levanto, Italy.
