Oxbow World Longboard Tour 2009

28/04/2009

Having spent the entire winter racking our brains, after a constant stream of e-mails and telephone calls, weeks of scrutinizing the weather charts, days and nights on skype conversing with natives in the event locations...we have finally set the dates for the Oxbow World Longboard Tour 2009!

This season is devoted to adventure, with two new destinations for longboarders: Japan and the Maldives.

The best Longboarders in the world will be in Tahara in Japan from July 28 to August 2.  The Tahara surf is well known among the surfing community and is set to be ridden for the first time in this first stage of the Oxbow World Longboard Tour by longboarders out to show what they are made of.

Following this stage in the Land of the Rising Sun, competitors head for another exotic location.  They will meet at the legendary Pasta Point on the magical island of Chaaya in the Maldives for the final stage of the world longboard circuit.  From October 26 to 31, the best longboarders in the world will battle in the turquoise waters of the Maldives to win the World Longboard Championship title.

“We are proud to continue to offer the best longboarders on the planet, two dream stages on the world circuit.  Authenticity, elegance and performance are the values that have always defined longboard and these two event locations are sure to inspire passion and offer a great, friendly atmosphere”, states Eric Bonnem, CEO of Oxbow.

The two stages of the 2008 circuit took place in Anglet and San Clemente with the championship title going to Bonga Perkins and second place to the young Frenchman Antoine Delpero.
